If you buy steel from China, chances are a chunk of it comes from Foshan. Here is what makes this market special — and how to use it to your advantage as an overseas buyer.
Lecong Steel World in Shunde, Foshan is one of the largest steel trading markets in South China: kilometer after kilometer of warehouses and trading companies covering tubes, sections, plate, sheet, coils and processed parts. For a buyer, the effect is simple: whatever your bill of materials contains, someone within a kilometer of our office stocks it — which means mixed orders get consolidated in one place, inspected together, and loaded into one container.
Guangdong hosts major mills and a dense network of rolling and slitting plants: welded tube mills in Foshan, section mills across the delta, and plate processors around Guangzhou. Short mill-to-market trucking (hours, not days) keeps stock fresh and replenishment fast — when a size runs out, it is back on the rack quickly.
The market's real depth is processing: laser and flame cutting, press braking, slitting, corrugated rolling, galvanizing plants nearby. A buyer's drawing can become packed parts inside days — cutting, bending, drilling and packing coordinated by one supplier instead of chasing five workshops.
Nansha and Shekou ports are 1–2 hours' trucking away, with weekly sailings to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, South America and the Pacific. For regional buyers, trucking to Hong Kong is a practical fast lane. Containers are loaded and lashed at the warehouse, with loading photos and lashing checks standard practice.
ZHENGYAO STEEL has operated inside Lecong Steel World for 20 years, at Nanqi Road 02A, Zone B2. Send your list — we will walk it through the market for you.
